This year, the interest of Russian tourists to rest in the Czech Republic has increased again. For example, in 2001 and 2002, in Moscow it was issued about 80 thousand visas per year. Last year, the consular department of the Czech Republic received 122 applications for a visa, only one percent of the applicants were denied. The other day, a 150-thousand owner of a Czech visa issued in the Russian capital, was Muscovite Sofia Kaminskaya. None of the Czech diplomatic missions in the world issued such a large number of visas for a year, said Consul of the Chechen Republic in Moscow Jan Yedliczka.

Recall, in connection with the amendments to the law "On the stay of foreigners on the territory of the Czech Republic," you must have a medical insurance policy for travel abroad (to show the original insurance policy and pass it to a photocopy) to obtain a Czech visa. The insurance should extend for the whole period of residence in the territory of the Czech Republic, Radio Prague reported. The insurance must cover illnesses, accidents and transportation of the patient to the territory of the state of which the insured is a citizen. The insurance amount must be at least 30 000 euros.

Excursions in Dubai

Due to the peculiarities of the local climate and lifestyle, in some cases it is most convenient to get acquainted with the sights of Dubai during specially organized excursions. Company Arabian Adventures conducts special mini-cruises in the water area of Dubai Creek, and Alpha Tours offers a variety of evening walks on traditional dhow boats. And you can just ride a water taxi "abra" throughout the bay – this trip will take 60-90 minutes, but its length and cost must be agreed in advance, otherwise there is a great chance to just be on the other side of the bay (5 minutes of the move). By the way, to pay for a trip to a water taxi, you can use NOL cards, which are also used in the metro.

A lot of companies also offer bus tours of different lengths, the most famous operators are Big Bus Tours, Arabian Adventures and Net Tours Dubai. Typically, as part of such a trip, you can inspect all old and new markets in Dubai, the Jumeira Mosque, the central commercial area and cross the Dubai Creek to Abra. Very popular night versions of this tour, usually including dinner in one of the city's restaurants.Walking tours for obvious reasons are only interesting in winter.

Travel to the desert from Dubai

Very popular and all kinds of excursions from Dubai to the desert. The sandy sea begins immediately outside the city blocks and stretches for hundreds of kilometers around, so trips are tireless. You can choose a tour in jeeps with "forcing" dune ridges and extreme driving lessons (it's strongly recommended not to go alone on a desert in rented jeeps!), You can ride on quadro- or motorcycles, camels and horses. Recently, descent from sand dunes on snowboards and downhill skiing, jumping into the desert with a parachute and paragliding is extremely popular. Well, a very special impression can be obtained from a dinner in the desert or even spending the night in a traditional Bedouin tent – fried meat on a fire under a tent of myriad stars and morning coffee from an old sooty coffee pot amidst the sun rising over the barkhans – impressions from the unique.

In principle, any hotel arranges for its guests trips of this kind, but the most famous operators are Arabian Adventures and Alpha Tours. To get acquainted with the nature and inhabitants of the desert, in particular, offers a reserve Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

Excursions to Hattu and Hajjar mountains

You can also go on a longer trip to the mountains of Hajar (Jabal al-Hajar, or the Oman Mountains), which form the border between the UAE and Oman about 100 km east of Dubai. This is one of the most picturesque places of the Arabian Peninsula, famous for its amazing landscapes, an abundance of lifeless gorges and green oases, high peaks (the highest point of Ash Sham lies already in the territory of Oman and reaches 3000 m) and shady "wadi", and also surprisingly diverse for these places fauna. Here lies one of the oldest cities in the region – the Hatta (about 115 km east of the city of Dubai), which, however, is an exclave of the UAE, so for a trip here on the ground you will need to issue a special permit from the Omani authorities.

Excursions to Sharjah

And you can make a simple excursion to the famous emirate of Sharjah, which is famous for its "strict morals", lying just 20 km to the northeast of the center of Dubai. This emirate may not seem rich enough compared to its "neighbor", but here you can see many more authentic places, less affected by the pressure of modern civilization.Tours are very popular in the local Heritage District with its Literature Square and the House of Poetry, the cultural center of Bait al-Gharbi cultural center, as well as the Heritage and Islamic Museums. Also in the city there is a mosque of King Faisal – one of the largest in the Middle East, a good museum of arts and the museum of Fort Al-Hish, telling about the history of the emirate of Sharjah and its culture, the most popular "blue market" of Al-Marzazi, Al Jazeera amusement park and fort Al Mahatta (Al Mahatta) with a small aviation museum. And many foreigners prefer the beautiful beaches of Khalid Lagoon, although they are less known than Dubai.

The new geographical map of the capital of Great Britain shows the places of London, memorable for the film "Bridget Jones: the Boundaries of the Reasonable," VisitBritain reports. The main roles in the film were performed by Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. The map, created by Film London and the Visit London Tourist Board, contains descriptions of the places where the film's main activities unfolded: from the Rigby & Peller lingerie store in Conduit Street to the Italian fountains in Kensington Gardens where Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver staged a fight from For Brigitte. Movie fans can organize an independent excursion: the description of attractions contains the names of the nearest metro stations.

The novelty is the latest in a series of maps devoted to famous movies. The map can be downloaded from Visit London (www.visitlondon.com) or obtained from VisitBritain offices.

Production of the next card will be timed to the premiere of the film "Closer" with Julia Roberts and Jade Law in the lead roles, which will be held in January 2005.
