Honduras, like many other countries in the region, is widely known for its many holidays and carnivals. The main event of the country is traditionally considered the picturesque fair La Virgen de Suyapa, held during the first two weeks of February in the town of Suyapa (7 km southeast of Tegucigalpa) in honor of the local saint, patroness of Honduras. Most of the settlements of the country have patron saints, in honor of whom annual celebrations and festivals are held. One of the biggest events of this kind is Carnival in La Ceiba, taking place during the third week of May. The carnival is accompanied by constant parades with costumed processions and live street music.

Colorful religious performances are held throughout the country on the eve of Christmas Eve. In addition to traditional theatrical performances for this holiday, local people always attend church mass, make visits to relatives, and then go out on the streets, wishing a happy Christmas to everyone they meet, after which they gather for a meal in the family circle. On Christmas usually organized numerous children's parties and even fireworks. On New Year's Eve the Hondurans dress up in their best suits and at midnight go out into the streets, congratulating everyone around them. As in many other local festivals, music and dances play a dominant role in this period.

There are other popular celebrations, among which it is especially recommended to visit the fairs in Kopan (March 15-20 and December 15-21), Tel (June 13), Trujillo (June 24), San Pedro Sula (last week of June) and Danli (the last weekend of August). Every year, from 6 to 16 December in Tegucigalpa, the Féerie-Centroamericana de Túrismo-i-Artesania – Central American International Fair of Tourism and Crafts, a grandiose festival devoted entirely to the development of these areas in the region, is attended by virtually all major representatives of these spheres activities and art groups from different countries of the continent.

The Day of Labor (May 1) is noisy, when workers and peasants gather from all over the country to the capital and conduct peaceful demonstrations of workers' solidarity in the best traditions of the May Day demonstrations of the times of socialism.Like many other American countries, the Hondurans celebrate the Remembrance Day of Jose Trinidad Cabanas (1805-1871), who was the country's president in the middle of the 19th century and made the first attempt to build a railway in Central America. Hondurans also celebrate the Day of Language (accompanied by various competitions in schools), Mother's Day, Father's Day and Children's Day (noisy public holidays, which are usually attended by the entire commune), Teacher's Day (on this day it is customary to give teachers flowers, sweets and fruits) Day of the tree (the main ritual of this event is the planting of tree seedlings) and the Day of the Environment or Earth Day (usually on June 1, trees and other plants, animals and even water are honored).

One of Kenya's tourist attractions, Lake Nakuru, may disappear. The lake is drying up rapidly. Its territory has already left more than 800 thousand pink flamingos. Now on the lake there are about 30 thousand birds, but they will leave their nesting sites in a few weeks, ITAR-TASS reports. A similar fate awaits and the alkaline lake of Elmentaita, 35 km southeast of Nakuru. In addition to flamingos, pelicans and herons live there, zebra herds and antelopes are grazing along the shores. But the hippos are no more – they disappeared as a result of a series of droughts that drained the lake.

According to experts, the lakes are dying because of massive deforestation, as a result of which once-full-flow springs that fed Nakuru and other lakes to their water turned into stunted brooks. Not so long ago, 200 thousand tourists came here annually to see the amazing picture – a million pink flamingos on their shores. The hope of the flamingos is still the fresh waters of Lake Naivasha 70 km Israel is ready to abolish visas unilaterally Nakuru, where they and other waterfowl migrated in August this year, but many birds perished during this flight.
