Since last week, the reception of passports and questionnaires from tourists is carried out by appointment – using a free telephone line and "bypassing" the general line. Tour operators are tormented by the cancellation of licenses.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation opposes the abolition of licensing of tourism activities. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation Vladimir Strzhalkovsky in St. Petersburg at the All-Russia meeting of heads of tourism management bodies of the subjects of the Russian Federation. "This year, licensing will not be canceled, so no comments on this topic, too, today will not be," – he said on the sidelines.

Nevertheless, the government commission on administrative reform, apparently, does not intend to give up this idea. This was again reminded in Moscow by Deputy Prime Minister Boris Aleshin, who suggested "smoothly withdrawing from licensing and moving to the system of accreditations" – including in the tourist industry. "The Official Holidays and Weekends in Austria: Personal Experience system became exhausting and introduced where it was possible and where not, for tour operators, for tourism organizations, manufacturers of railway equipment, communications," he said.

Tour operators themselves are afraid that the abolition of licensing will provoke cases of mass fraud and, as a consequence, financial losses of law-abiding companies.

In addition, the all-Russian meeting touched on the topic of revising the classification of hotels. In St. Petersburg, for example, the quality of services of most hotels does not match the declared "stars". From April 25 to 28, the First World Conference on the approximation of hotel classification systems is planned in St. Petersburg. Its organizing committee has already been formed, and the superfluous shocks connected with ambiguous position of the government concerning licensing, in this case will obviously be inappropriate. This is reported by "Business Petersburg".
